Kaleidoscope Ride Tour – Eastern Canada

I’m happy to announce that Sara and I will be continuing our Cross Canada Tour in 2012 – in a partnership with Autism Canada (who helped sponsor our first leg of the tour in 2008)!

Visit Autism Canada at www.autismcanada.org for info on their vision, mission and activities. The tour plan is to begin in late September and tour through Eastern Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime Provinces.

More info and itinerary to be announced in the New Year!

Happy Holidays and all the best to you and your families in 2012! I will be posting some history on our project and tour over the next several weeks as well as current tidbits (what we are working on now and a bit more about our vision and music).

it’s a kaleidoscope ride!..

Every person is so much more than their surface … the eloquence of a person’s heart speaks so much more!

Several years ago I began a new life journey, as many parents do.  A journey into uncharted territory, a kaleidoscope ride..

In the beginning it felt like being on a roller coaster ride with no end in site and very little to hold us in place.  Autism was a whole new concept, barely understood and, in the days before Internet, a daunting task to track down information on.

By the time I penned our first KiSara song “Possibilities” (mid-way through our journey) I never envisioned the response that it would create amongst families, agencies and the communities we’ve visited.    I simply needed to send a positive message and share our experiences.

Now I realize just how much families and individuals were looking for positive messages and the opportunity to celebrate everyone’s individuality and talents.  After diagnosis a person’s life can become filled with assessments, tests, therapies and piles and piles of paper.  But our children and we are so much more than that!

Although the therapies and services we receive are invaluable tools, we need to nurture our gifts, abilities and talents.  The spiritual and creative side that creates balance in our lives.

This blog is a continuation of a project I first began to visualize in 2002 .. a change of perspective as I truly began to understand more about Autism and the many marvelous people with ASD I’ve met in the past 22 years.

In addition to bits of our story, I will be posting links and info for those (individuals and families) looking for resources related to music and the arts as well as info about some very talented and inspirational individuals and programs.

If there were one message that I would wish for you to take to your heart from this blog it would be one of hope.  Wherever you or your child, family member or friend may be on their Autism journey there is not only one ending to their story.  Each person does indeed have the ability to write his or her own story.  Trust in your instincts and intuition.  Look to connect “outside” the box.  Celebrate every moment and possibility that you can!

In the meantime to learn more about Kaleidoscope Ride and listen to music clips  - you can visit our website at www.heartfeltmusic.net

A message of hope .. of Possibilities

Our family’s journey through the realm of Autism or ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) has taught me just how many “possibilities” I might have missed without my daughter’s unique insight and outlook on the world. The multi-faceted and often painfully intense world of Autism seemed mind boggling and intimidating. Yet this world also holds beauty, like that of a Kaleidoscope. Patterns and colours of behavior unique to each individual, merged with incredible gifts and abilities. This blog will be a celebration of that knowledge, our story and of each child and individual’s endless possibilities!
